Loveland’s Anthology gets a shot of caffeine

Anthology BooksAnthology Book Company in Loveland was slated to close forever in about three weeks.  This was sad news, especially when tied to the fact that City News has closed.

Well, good news.   Anthology will not be closing.  They found a partner to keep it open.

A business called 3 Coffee, located in Milliken, will be doing business in the Anthology business.

The 3 Coffee business in Milliken is a coffee shop and a place to roast coffee.

Many in Loveland are very happy I think, to  have the bookstore coffee shop stay in downtown Loveland (DoLo).

Anthology Book Co. is located at 422 East Fourth Street.

What are your thoughts on this?

Loveland Cactus Grille is back

Cactus Grille

Loveland Cactus Grille is up and running.

Here is a press release on Loveland newest Mexican restaurant.  (Yes, I know there was on before but this one is back in DoLo.)

The Cactus Grille Opens in Downtown Loveland

April 17th, 2013

Loveland, CO- The Cactus Grille, has officially
opened in downtown Loveland, 119 E. Fourth Street.

Owners, Mike Severance, his daughter Chrissy French, and Bar-Manager, Geoff Fleming are excited to bring the Old Cactus back into downtown Loveland. The restaurant features a southwestern style menu along with many options of margaritas including the infamous “Wicked Margarita. The décor of the restaurant resembles a Mexican style village, and has plans of opening an outdoor patio on the east side of the building this summer. Severance is thrilled to be part of the exciting changes that have been occurring in downtown Loveland, and is pleased with the transformations.  ”We’re Loveland people. We love downtown Loveland, and we’re excited to be back and be involved in the community we love.” Severance stated.

The Cactus Grille first opened in Downtown Loveland in April 1988 and was a local hot spot. In 2001, the Cactus Grille opened the second location in the Thompson Valley Towne Center in southwest Loveland. It remained in that location until it closed it doors in the end of 2008.   In late March, The Cactus Grille once again opened their doors with excitement in the air.  Severance said, “We just are overwhelmed with the support we are getting from the community,” French added, “Since I have been a little girl, I have always dreamed of owning not just a restaurant, but a Cactus Grille, and tonight was a dream come true.” French said of the soft opening March 28th, 2013.
Although many of the old favorites will be included on the menu the Cactus Grille will incorporate new dishes that are sure to please. Catering is also available.

Grand opening weekend celebrations are May 17th-19th.

Loveland’s Fourth Street getting a present

A stroll down Fourth Street in downtown Loveland (Dolo) shows more activity going on.   In recent weeks, there as been talk of a new bar and a new Cajun restaurant to name a few.

It looks like something is moving on on Fourth Street across from the Rialto.  I think the actual address is 239 Fourth Street.  In the past, this business has been home to Western Heritage, Rydquist’s jewelry store, a bird store, and if you go way back Leazer’s Jewelry.

This location is right by the iconic downtown clock and has one of the most beautiful wood storefronts in the area.

The windows have newspapers on them.  A sign says “4th Street gets another Christmas present.” I guess that means the new owner will reveal himself/herself/themselves soon.

What do you hope comes to this and other locations in Dolo?
