Loveland business on the move

I don’t usually post things without verifying them.  This one is something I heard from two sources but have not talked to the actual owner.  They were not in yesterday afternoon, and are out today.

One of my faithful “beeps” called this exciting news.  The other person is very knowledgeable about Loveland, and they said the same thing.

Last week I mentioned that something was temporarily being displaced where the Mandolin Cafe was in downtown (Dolo) Loveland.  Well, it seems the space will be occupied again.

From what my detective work tells me, the Coffee Tree (currently located at Anthology Book Company) is going to move into the Mandolin’s space.  This would give them a much bigger work area.

I do not know what will happen with the area they now have at Anthology.

If YOU know anything, let me know.

Loveland film fest

Lovelanders   Did you know you can attend a film festival this weekend?

Loveland’s Group Publishing is putting on their short film fest again this year.  It will happen this weekend   (Friday night May 4 and Saturday May 5)

LIFETREE FILM FEST ’12 is called “A Cinematic Celebration of Doing Life, Doing Good”

This year’s event again promises some interesting topics caught on video (usually about 15 minutes each.)

Topics (all true stories) range from

  • A former investment banker finds purpose when he meets a young street dancer who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease
  • A story about a trauma nurse in New York City’s busiest emergency rooms who realizes she knows the medical diagnoses of her patients before x-rays or tests are done.
  • Six surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen reflect on their lives and their experiences during World War II and their return home.

Plus many more!

Reclaiming Hope

I heard from a couple of good Loveland folks about an upcoming event called Reclaiming Hope   The Founding Fathers, Faith, and Limited Government.   The man and wife who are bringing this presentation to NoCo attend Galillee Church in Loveland.  This church is one of the sponsors for the event.

The other sponsor is Reviving America’s Legacy.  The tagline on their website is Inspired by America’s Godly heritage, we will equip and mobilize the Church to  impact the public square for God’s glory.

Appearing at the event will be David Barton, who is known as America’s Historian.

The hard-working couple (the Rehgs) who are coordinating this event searched unsuccessfully for a location in Loveland to hold it. So, the Friday, May 25 event (6:30 p.m.) will be held at teh Front Range Baptist Church, located at 625 East Harmony Road in Fort Collins.  There is no admission fee but a freewill offering will be taken.

Loveland combines coffee and ceramics

I got a note from my good friend, fellow writers and part of Fred’s Used Websites  (Maryjo Morgan) about an event happening in Loveland.  It sounds interesting.

I like the idea because it looks like two local businesses are doing some comarketing and promotion.  We need more of this.

Here is the note she got from Tom Helm, the owner of Brewsworthy coffeeBrewsworthy-a Loveland coffee rooster

My name is Tom Helm, and I am a Loveland coffee roaster.

Next Friday, April 27, I am partnering with a local ceramicist for a night of coffee tasting and education about pottery making, coffee roasting, and various coffee brewing methods. It is located at Q&C Studios, 115 W. 2nd St., 80537, from 6-9 pm.

This event is free to the public, and while items will be available for sale, this event is intended for education and fun.

Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Thanks,

Tom Helm

Loveland business sends an S.O.S.

Loveland businesses are coming and going as evidenced by the posts on bobsheartbeats.com
I ready about another Loveland downtown (I still am politicing to call it DoLo) seems to need some assistance.

Here is what is posted on Merchant Voyage Facebook page:

S.O.S.!!! Hello to all of my loyal facebook fans! Merchant Voyage is in trouble, and while it may not be the most appropriate thing to talk about, I have to. We desperately need to raise money by May 1st to pay some back rent or we may have to leave. I so don’t want to leave my shop and my friends. I love coming here everyday to be creative and interact with all of you. Please help us in any way that you can. If you can just help us get the word out or think of some fund raising ideas, small donations, anything will help! Thank you again for your love, help, and support. When you come in for a visit, come up to the counter and whisper “S.O.S.” and receive 20% off your entire purchase excluding a few things on consignment. Thank you again!

When I talked to Mary at Merchant Voyage (246 E. 4th Street, Loveland) she said business declined last year. This caused the business to get behind in their rent.  Things have picked up, but not fast enough she says.  She credits some of the other new businesses on Fourth Street for the latest upswing.

As she said on her Facebook page, Merchant Voyage is offering 20 percent discount on non-consignment items. Tell her wordsbybob sent  you there so she knows Lovelanders read my blog.
I hate to see any business struggle.  This is especially true of a locally-owned one.  Whenever possible, I try to go to local restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, etc.
