LOVELAND – The nation’s largest outdoor sculpture show is seeking volunteers to perform a wide variety of tasks. “Without the hard work and dedication of each volunteer, this event would not happen,” says Deb Alles, Volunteer Coordinator of the Loveland Sculpture Invitational.

Volunteers are needed for the Loveland Sculpture Invitational to fill positions like golf cart/shuttle driver, ticket sales, show setup and tear down, and much more. The full list of positions as well as the volunteer application can be accessed online at: http://lovelandsculptureinvitational.org/volunteer/ .

The deadline to apply is July 15th. There will be an important and informative volunteer appreciation party and training on Tuesday, July 23rd from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  All volunteers will receive a t-shirt, job assignment(s), and necessary training, during this time.

The Loveland Sculpture Invitational is sponsored by The Loveland Sculpture Group, a non-profit organization.  Their mission is to encourage and support sculptors nationwide and to give back to new, emerging artists.  Over the years, The Group has donated over 30 sculptures valued at $275,000.  In meeting the goals of their mission statement, The Group has also contributed $253,000 to local art education programs and other non-profits. The Loveland Sculpture Invitational will take place on August 9, 10, 11, 2013. The public is encouraged to attend; $7 for adults, 14 and under are free. Veteran Business Owners Network

veteran_business_owners_network

Veteran Business Owners Network (VBON) has been in Loveland for about two years.

Today, I went to one of their meetings, and I will go back.

What a great group of veterans and those who support veterans. The group started out as a group of vets who wanted to network and refer each other. It has now expanded to a more general networking group (with helping veterans always a part of their activities), and is hoping to grow.

Members of the group include veterans, spouses of veterans and others who support and want to help those who have served in our military.  There is no membership fee.

The VBON tagline is “Empowering Warrior Dreams.”

From the Veteran Business Owners Network website, I learned that VBON’s purpose is:

To network with other business owners, veterans and veteran supporters to assist, help, guide, and support veterans in need of assistance. We can help with financial assistance, emotional assistance, as well as recommendations for guidance as needed.

Our creed is to help veterans in need.
Our resources are the VBON team members who through their business acumen have the knowledge and experience required to assist veterans in need.
Our support includes financial ability, emotional support, as well as referring each members business, social, and community contacts to the other members in the group.

VBON meetings are held every other Friday at 8 a.m. at Mimi’s.

Come see what this fine group of patriotic men and women is all about.

Trivia is back in Loveland

Tidbits_Neatest_Little_paper_ever_read

Tidbits, the wonderful and free newspaper is back.  Tidbits of Greeley, Centerra, Loveland and the surrounding areas is available again.

This paper is distributed to coffee shops and other businesses.  It always contains some amazing and interesting facts, trivia and factoids.

I met with the owner of our local Tidbits, Ron Ross, recently.   He really has the paper looking good with tons of local ads.  If you have a desire to advertise in it, email Ron at RonRoss@TrustTidbits.com.

Another interesting part of Tidbits is a radio show called Tidbits Talk.  Ron hosts this show that can be hear on Saturdays from noon to 1 pm on 1310 KFKA Newstalk. It is also 1310kfka.com.

As someone who has always loved trivia, I am happy to see “The Neatest Little Paper Ever Read” back in local stores.

Loveland will have a natural grocery store

Loveland will finally have a natural grocery store.

Crunchy Grocer new location

In my last post about a local Loveland businessman’s quest to bring all natural and fresh organic food to Loveland, I mentioned he was using locavesting.

Seems things are going well because Jonas Buehl announced he has found a location for his new Loveland venture.

Here is what he said on Facebook:

We’re thrilled to finally announce..The Crunchy Grocer officially has a home! We’re planning an October opening. Happy Friday everyone! :)

Look for activity at the location they have selected for what many Sweetheart City residents have wanted for years.  The new store will go be located at 1461 East Eisenhower.
This is were PartyAmerica used to be in the strip mall on the east side of town.

It is located between Office Max and Santiago’s.

Good luck, Jonas!

Wildflower Cabaret launches Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign, seeks $40,000 to put cabaret theater in downtown Loveland
April 9, 2013 – Loveland, Colorado.

Wildflower Cabaret, a professional cabaret and entertainment production company based in Loveland, is launching a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign beginning Monday, April 8 and ending Saturday, June 1. The company seeks to raise $40,000 to build a professional performing arts space in downtown Loveland that can support cabaret shows, comedy, musical theater, original works by regional artists, and children’s theater workshops.
Until recently, Wildflower Cabaret occupied an event center south of downtown Loveland. Last November, the owners of the event center approached Wildflower about revitalizing the failing business and providing live entertainment. Wildflower owners John Seaberry and Sky Cash accepted the offer and turned the operation around with a rejuvenated bar, kitchen and entertainment including original cabaret shows, stand-up comedy and drag queen bingo. But after irreconcilable differences with a business partner, Wildflower was forced to leave the space, losing almost their entire investment, and leaving the stage dark after only three months.

When the theater closed in February, Wildflower attempted to go mobile and searched for already established venues that would take in the existing shows, but struggled fitting the shows into these venues’ schedules and service format. This struggle has proven the need for a permanent home in Loveland where Wildflower can bring original theater and cabaret to a town that is already significant in the arts. The Box Office is turning away several phone calls a day for two shows they
have been advertising since January, and has had to refund thousands of dollars’ worth of promotional pre-sales through Living Social and other advertisers. With the company’s original investment lost, Wildflower is launching a crowd-funding project on Kickstarter.com to open a new performance space in downtown Loveland.

How It Works
Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects, including music, art, dance, technology, design, films and, of course, theater. If people like a project, they can pledge money to make it happen. Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing. So if the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal, all backers’ are charged when time expires. If the project falls short, no one is charged.
