Loveland business gets more breathing room

Lincare Loveland

Loveland businesses are on the move.  So much so, that this blog post has been in the wings for some time now.

If you drive on Loveland’s 29th Street at the Garfield intersection, you have seen a change lately.  The mostly empty building that held Fireside Lighting  (and was going to be the new Donut Haus before they went to Orchard’s Shopping Center) is not there.

They have a bigger space than the small one they had on Eisenhower Boulevard just west of the Goodwill Store.

Loveland — Green for Green

crunchy grocerLoveland should be thinking green, and I don’t mean St. Patty’s Day.

Many in the Sweetheart City talk about the need for a natural grocery store in town.  Big company names and vacant building have been discussed.

For more than a year, a local company has tried to get a natural and organic grocery store started in Loveland.

He is still trying and YOU can help.

Jonas at the hopefully soon to be Crunchy  Grocer needs some funding to get his local grocery store up and running.

The website for the Crunchy Grocer is under construction but it tells you where to find them on Facebook, Twitter and how to sign up for their newsletter.

Here is what he says:

The Crunchy Grocer needs your help! We are now actively seeking Locavesters to help finish funding. THE DEAL… $75,000 needs to be raised in locavester dollars to show community support to the involved lenders. (The other capital is coming from bank funding and owner investment.) Locavesters with a minimum investment of $5,000 will receive a return of 5% and an additional store discount incentive. Don’t have $5,000 but want to participate? Pool your friends and share the benefits. This is your chance to help push this project across the finish line! Almost there Loveland!Interested in helping?

Email info@crunchygrocer.com for a prospectus. THANK YOU!

Loveland gets creamed

Loveland ice creamLoveland must be on the cutting edge of trends.  A recent article in the paper told of a new ice cream shop on Loveland.   This one is downtown, and owned by Chef Clay from Mo’ Betta Cajun restaurant.   That is exciting.

Late last night, one of my “beeps” sent me a note about a SECOND ice cream shop in Loveland.   They both using new (at least to me) technology.  It appears each serving of ice cream is made individually. It is frozen with liquid nitrogen.

The first location that will be opened by Clay Caldwell in DoLo is at 202 East Fourth Street  (corner of Fourth and Cleveland) where Tenfold used to be.  It should be open late spring or early summer.  He has not revealed the name of this new venture.

The surprising news I found out yesterday is that Chill Colorado Creamery will be open in April.  This new Loveland venture is at 1435 N. Cleveland.  This is the property that was previously owned by my friend Jim Loonan.

Chill Colorado Creamery says it is going to be  a ice cream shop/creperie/coffee shop

If you are trying to picture this location, it is just west of Walgreen’s in the strip mall. It is the north-most building. It is a free-standing building.

I will try to get by there and also talk to the owner soon.

Loveland gets another one

Titos Mexican Grill

Loveland restaurant scene is hard to keep up with.  I try to write about other Loveland businesses but it seems restaurants keep coming and going.

Here is one that is coming to the Sweetheart City.  A trip to Berthoud today confirmed this.

Tito’s Mexican Grill in Berthoud is opening a Loveland location.   The Berthoud location is in the space formerly used by Santiago’s behind the old Wayside Inn.

With luck, Lovelanders will be able to have Tito’s mexican food by the end of this month.   The location they have chosen is in Palmer Gardens.  It is where the Donut Haus was before they moved to the Orchard’s Shopping Center.

I do not know yet if Tito’s will have their $2 breakfast burritos that seem to be popular in Berthoud.
