Bobservation — Loveland business closing

Loveland’s coffee shop and restaurant scene is ever changing.  Recently, I mentioned the move of the Donut Haus, closing of the Black Cup and the new Organic Cafe.  Now there is another change.

The Mandolin Cafe on Fourth Street in Downtown Loveland will close at the end of the year.  I hadn’t been in there many times, but it seemed like they did a good business.  When my wife and I volunteer at the Rialto, I remember some summer nights walking by the Mandolin, and hearing live music.  The owners seem to think they can find a new location for the business.

This will leave a big gap on Fourth Street, even with the soon-to-be opened Rialto Theater Center.

What would YOU like to see go in where the Mandolin was?

I’d like to see a store like you see up in Estes Park where you can buy fresh carmel corn, assorted nuts, dried fruits…..Maybe like bulk foods that you can get in a Sprouts or Whole Foods. Of course I’d want to be able to take it into the Rialto for any shows they have going.

I agree. With the new additions downtown, it is getting more vibrant. Some merchants do what they did in Berthoud when the road was torn up. They throw up their hands and don’t get proactive to keep people coming to their businesses.

The Crunchy Grocer is working on the natural food grocery store. (See my blog post on this.) They were trying to go in to the old Ferguson High on Eisenhower. Seems that did not work, so he is looking for another place.
