Loveland business for sale

Well, things keep changing in downtown Loveland (DoLo.)

I reported on bobsheartbeats.com that The Inglenook is now serving lunch.  I also reported that the Coffee Tree is moving from inside Anthology Books to where the old Mandolin Cafe is.

Now, I hear that City News is up for sale.  I don’t go there regularly, but I do like to frequent it when I need a magazine. Their selection is awesome.  Every city should have some kind of newstand that had a wide selection of books and magazines.

The sale also includes the area where the coffee shop and sandwiches are sold.

I hope it stays or someone buys it and continues the tradition.

City News is located at 534 Cleveland.

Loveland Merchant Voyage to get help

Loveland business Merchant Voyage has been struggling.  I blogged about the plight of Merchant Voyage on April 26.

Now there may be some good new.  A recent email from Renee Blanchard says that the Loveland Cash Mob will decend on Merchant Voyage (246 E. Fourth Street) at 2 p.m. on May 12.

Try to find time to stop by and support a locally owned business in downtown (DoLo) Loveland.

Click on this line to find out about the Loveland Cash Mob.  They have a Loveland Cash Mob Facebook page too.

Loveland business on the move

I don’t usually post things without verifying them.  This one is something I heard from two sources but have not talked to the actual owner.  They were not in yesterday afternoon, and are out today.

One of my faithful “beeps” called this exciting news.  The other person is very knowledgeable about Loveland, and they said the same thing.

Last week I mentioned that something was temporarily being displaced where the Mandolin Cafe was in downtown (Dolo) Loveland.  Well, it seems the space will be occupied again.

From what my detective work tells me, the Coffee Tree (currently located at Anthology Book Company) is going to move into the Mandolin’s space.  This would give them a much bigger work area.

I do not know what will happen with the area they now have at Anthology.

If YOU know anything, let me know.

Loveland film fest

Lovelanders   Did you know you can attend a film festival this weekend?

Loveland’s Group Publishing is putting on their short film fest again this year.  It will happen this weekend   (Friday night May 4 and Saturday May 5)

LIFETREE FILM FEST ’12 is called “A Cinematic Celebration of Doing Life, Doing Good”

This year’s event again promises some interesting topics caught on video (usually about 15 minutes each.)

Topics (all true stories) range from

  • A former investment banker finds purpose when he meets a young street dancer who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease
  • A story about a trauma nurse in New York City’s busiest emergency rooms who realizes she knows the medical diagnoses of her patients before x-rays or tests are done.
  • Six surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen reflect on their lives and their experiences during World War II and their return home.

Plus many more!

Loveland non-news

Loveland likes to know what is going on in the business world.  BobsHeartBeats.com tries to keep on top of this, with the help of many of my loyal readers. (“beeps”)

I thought I had a news story about a new business on Fourth Street in Loveland, but it is not exactly that.  As I was walking by the old Mandolin Cafe, I noticed a sign for BJ Works and some nice furniture in the window.  Eureka!  A new business?

Not so fast!  After doing some email and phone investigation, I found that BJ Works LLC(Brian Jarvis) has just using the space on a week-to-week basis, thanks to the owner, Barry Floyd.

At least it is better than an empty building, but it would be nice to have a new thriving business in that spot.

What woudl YOU like to see go in this spot vacated by Mandolin Cafe?
